SILENT Partner (3-1), in his first run for the stable over 1950m at Scottsville on Sunday, put 4.25-lengths between himself and runner-up Silver Dice in a MR87 handicap.
The pace was a good one and Zenziho Campeao led the field into the home run, trying to get away from them with 500m to go. Anthony Delpech switched Silent Partner from his early position on the fence to the middle of the track and his mount was quickly spotted “moving up under the hands” and taking over at the 250m-mark.
Silent Partner, impressive win.
Silent Partner lengthened his stride and drew comfortably away with Delpech putting the stick away as there was really no need for it. The gelding by Silvano was enjoying himself out there and the winning distance, as good as it was, flattered the runner-up.
Silent Parner has won two of ten starts for owner Raymond Koedyk and he won’t stop here.
A while later imported Rashaad (13-10) also enjoyed a steady pace set by Duty Free in a MR70 handicap over 1950m. Delpech had this one a little handier than Silent Partner and sent him about his business 400m away from home. He quickened well, kept running strongly and won by 3.25-lengths.
Rashaad has turned the corner since being equipped with blinkers, with two wins from two starts. He is another who should pick up more races in coming months. He’s a three-year-old by Encosta De Lago from a Fasliyev mare and is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.
Rashaad, improved form in blinkers.
