MIKE’s comments for runners at Saturday’s Turffontein meeting are as noted below:
RACE 1: “SEA SHEPHERD is not showing us all that much in work, pedigree suggests he’ll need a bit further. He will benefit from the outing first time out.”

RACE 2: “IRISH MAY has been a difficult horse to train. She disappointed after a good debut and comes off a rest. We’d like to see her reproduce her debut run but she’s hard to assess at this point.”
RACE 3: ” GREY’S ANATOMY looks a promising type of horse and is fit enough to finish somewhere in the money, though will need the experience first time on the track.
RACE 6: “BLUROUTE is a nice filly. It’s never easy to win first time out, after winning a Maiden, but she’s bred for this kind of trip and she warrants inclusion in all bets.”
RACE 8: “We were happy with HAVASHA’s last run, his first after a rest, and he should improve more as he is short of his best. Include him and STORM CROSSING in Quartets. Storm Crossing’s grass merit rating is very low, he is better on sand, but still off a grass rating like he has, must have a chance of being competitive here, he is well.”
RACE 9: UP COMPANY’s work is reasonable, we don’t fancy him to win it, but he’s one for bigger Pick 6s or Quartets.
