THE Vodacom Durban July at Greyville this Saturday is South Africa’s biggest betting day of the year and TAB is delighted to announce two innovations that will make betting on Africa’s greatest horseracing even more exciting.
TAB customers in all Phumelela regions can take an All To Come on any race meeting from today Monday 27 June until Friday 1 July (excluding France, Italy, Macau, Sweden and Turkey) and make the last selection either a Win or Place bet on a horse of their choice in the Durban July.
For example a TAB customer can take an All To Come comprising a Win bet on Race 2 and a Place bet on Race 5 at the Vaal tomorrow and with the third and final selection being a Win or Place bet on a runner in the Durban July.
The All To Come bet form must be filled out in the normal way except utilise the FUTURE OPTION 1 section at the bottom of the form to indicate your choice in the July and whether a Win or Place bet is being selected.
“An All To Come with a future option into major race is an innovation we have planning for some time and I am delighted that we have been able to implement it in time for this year’s Durban July,” said Phumelela Betting Executive Vee Moodley.
And in another first for TAB, horseplayers who bet a TAB Place on this year’s July will collect if their selection finishes in the first six.
“This is a once-off for the Durban July and other selected major races into the future,” said Moodley. “The July is of course Africa’s biggest betting day of the year and we want as many people as possible to enjoy the thrill of a winning bet. In order to prevent the place payouts from being overly diluted as a result of six payouts, we will drop the takeout rate from the pool so there will be good value to be had,” added Moodley.
The Place pool on last year’s July was R6 million and it’s set to soar much higher this year as a result of the first six finishers all qualifying for a payout. No doubt about it, a TAB Place bet is the way to go on this year’s race!
