HIGH-PRICE of R3.2-million paid by Ormond Ferrraris for Lot 196, Heart’s Content (Jet Master – Varsfontein Stud), on the opening night of the three-day 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale was not bettered on the second day, although another Jet Master colt, Master Of My Fate, was knocked down to A Papageorgiou for R3 million. Master Of My Fate (Lot 352), also bred by Varsfontein, is out of  former champion race mare, Promisefrommyheart.

Other big-priced yearlings at the session (lots 251-375) included the R1.4 million paid by Form Bloodstock for the Silvano colt Vercingetorix (out of National Vixen) from Riverton Stud and Wilgerbosdrift Stud-bred Coltraine, Lot 316 (Giant’s Causeway-Nuance), who fetched R1.25 million.

Lot 122, Presidio, a R125 o00 purchase from Avontuur Stud, knocked down to Form Bloodstock.
