SHEIKH Hamdan of Dubai’s three-year-old filly Meezah, under top weight in a MR72 Handicap over 1400m at Greyville on Sunday, scored a game win over Hello Sailor and Lucy Brown.
Meezah (18-10), ran on well under a hands-and-heels ride from Anthony Delpech, who gave her a single smack close to the line to keep her going from Hello Sailor, who was doing her best work late.
Meezah (Sheikh Hamdan’s blue-and-white silks), keeps galloping strongly. (Gold Circle).
Meezah is by Goldkeeper from Mystic Spring, by Royal Academy. She’s a half-sister to top graded performers Rabiya and Secret Of Victoria.
Delpech posted a double at Turffontein on Saturday, including a two-length success on Mary Slack’s Let It Be, who broke her Maiden in a 1400m race on the standsise track. He holds a lead of 25 winners over reigning Champion Jockey Anton Marcus on the National Log.
