ANDREW Watkins, photographer supreme in Dubai, has been supplying photos to mikedekockracing.com since 2004 and the stable sees him as part of the team when the annual racing carnivals get underway.
Andrew Watkins.
We’re starting this weekend an album in our photo gallery dedicated to Andrew’s photos. We normally use only a few snaps with each Dubai article, but the biltong-munching “Lord” Watkins sends more of his excellent pics every week and our readers will have plenty of clicking to do in our Photo Gallery Section.
We will update the Watkins Gallery weekly and throw in some stuff from his old archives. Remember however they are not for distribution or commercial use, unless you have Andrew’s written permission.
Andrew’s professional life has always revolved around racing. He started his career as a jockey, working for trainer Ian Balding, and once rode a winner for the Queen. He also worked for trainer Mac Miller at Belmont Park in the US and in Dubai for Kierin McLaughlin.
He took up photography in 2000 to capture images from the sport he loves, and has since become renowned worldwide, published regularly in Thoroughbred Times, Racing Post and Equestrio. Andrew also does extensive photography in other sports, including rugby, golf and tennis.
Go to our Photo Gallery for the Watkins Dubai 2011 album (ckeck back often for updates), and visirt Andrew’s website on www.andrewwatkinsphoto.com.
