THERE’s no time like Dubai Carnival time for the stable’s floating banker, Kevin Shea, and not only because he gets to work with some of the world’s best horses.
As reported last year, Kevin is a spirited mini-plane pilot and he’s found the best spots in the semi-desert outside the big city to engage in his favourite pastime. Well, ok, his second favourite pastime.
“Off the track I’m at my happiest with my new 700 Nitro Helli and spending time with my non-racing friends,” Kevin tells.
If you’re going to be visiting Dubai soon and you want to see Kevin focusing on a real “flying finish” from about 11am, drive a few kms out of town in the direction of Meydan and look around for nifty little flying machines performing daring maneuvres in the desert sky. With a bit of luck you’ll spot them and track down a group of mini-jet pilots attached to their remote controls, practicing very realistic take-offs and daring landings.
Shea: “Sky’s The Limit”
As for the 2011 De Kock runners, Kevin reports that his 2010 partner Irish Flame has impressed him most so far. “He’s better than he was, a superb horse,” says ”The Pastor’.
