Balletto’s stylish win

THE word Balletto is the Italian origin of “Ballet”, and if her 1200m debut win at the Vaal is a yardstick, Balletto’s connections will be hoping she can develop into a filly with classic potential.

Jessica Slack and her Mauritzfontein team named her well – Balletto is by Soft Falling Rain from Liberty Dance, by Fort Wood, and she’s a half-sister to stakes winner Folk Dance, which will give owner Costa Livanos even more hope that she can go on.

Mathew de Kock commented: “She quickened well, looks like a nice filly and yes, I think she can become a useful filly.”

Mike de Kock originally bought Balletto at the National Yearling Sale of 2018 and Livanos bought in. “Mr Livanos has been loyal in his support of the yard, and he’s a lucky owner,” said Mathew.
