“THE best thing about Arlington’s Revenge is his heart. He has plenty of guts, he is a pleasing horse to train because he gives of his best,” said Mathew de Kock after the son of The Apache made it three from six with a narrow defeat of Spring Poetry in a MR80 handicap over 1600m on the inner track at Turffontein.
Mat was having a quiet celebratory sherry on Sunday evening and said he was chuffed that Arlington’s Revenge had showed himself to have promise in Assessment Plates and that he will win more handicaps. He congratulated his dad and sister Kirsten who race the gelding n partnership.
“We also have to say something about The Apache. In essence he won a Group 1 in the US, he has the makings of becoming a top stallion, but he’s getting no support,” said Mat about the stallion by Mogok, who stands at Scott Bros and represents the potent Storm Cat crossed with Sadler’s Wells.”
The addition of blinkers made all the difference to the recently disappointing filly Silver Thursday. Rekindled interest saw her bounce back to her best in an Assessment Plate over 1800m and Mat said: “The blinkers did the trick and Warren Kennedy suited her. This is the kind of performance she is capable of and it makes her a feature race contender in Autumn, she has all the ability.”
Silver Thursday, by Silvano, races for Mauritzfontein, Maine Chance and Mrs John Magnier.
