STALLION Medaglia D’Oro, who equalled Mr. Prospector, Danzig, and Storm Cat’s US record with seven Gr1 wins in a season this year, produced Dhabyaan (AUS), a fluent debut winner and the first of four for the stable on the Classic track at the Vaal on Saturday.

Dhabyaan (11-20, JP van der Merwe) showed a good turn of foot to skip away late in this 1200m contest and Mathew de Kock, doing duties at the country course, commented: “He needs much further so this was an encouraging win.”

Dhabyaan races for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum’s Al Adiyaat and he set a faster time than the hard-pressed winner of a MR72 handicap staged later in the day, a pointer to his ability.

Kremlin Judgement.

Second in line on another sparkling day for the stable was three-year-old Kremlin Judgement (Callan Murray),  who races for the partnership of attorney Robert Bloomberg and Mike de Kock. He has a beautiful, flowing action and made it count when he took up the lead with 300m to run and drew away to win over a mile, sporting that outstanding red maltese cross.

“He’s had two very good runs and I think he’s a horse that will win a few more,” Mat said about Kremlin Judgement, who grew up at Rosedene Stud and was sired by Mike de Kock’s favourite stallion, Grey’s Inn.

Big Parade.

Next was Big Parade (Murray), who came from a deep draw to win his Maiden over 2000m. He’s a son of Dynasty and former Summer Cup winner Flirtation and, like his dam, is owned by Costa Livanos, who was on course to lead in his winner.

Murray, who rode with confidence and good judgment after a short injury-enforced break, booted home his third, and the stable’s fourth, when Alshibaa (AUS) came from last to win a MR90 Handicap over 1600m, responding late to a single left-handed crack to quicken away well.

“He’s done enough to qualify for the Dingaans now,” said Mat of Sheikh Hamdan’s runner by Street Cry.
