MIKE de Kock likes the progeny of New Approach and has hopes that Sheikh Hamdan’s home-bred two-year-old filly Al Hawraa (AUS) has a future on the racetrack.
Al Hawraa (Anthony Delpech) won her 1000m debut at Scottsville, Sunday by 2.50-lengths and Mike said: “She shows plenty of speed, she looks to have ability but she beat a small field of unknown quality, only time will tell how good she is.”
Al Hawraa, shows good pace.
He said about New Approach: “We like this stallion, he doesn’t seem to be all that popular in Australia but we have a few of his offspring, they are nice horses.”
It was good to see the famous Beck family silks in the winner’s enclosure again – sported by Delpech on All Together Now, a lightly-raced four-year-old by Rip Van Winkle (IRE), who came off a nine-month rest to win a MR74 mile handicap.
“All Together Now has had his problems, but he’s a progressive horse and is capable of winning at a higher level,” Mike said.
