ALGHADEER is one of eight runners from Mike de Kock’s stable entered for next month’s R2-million Sansui Summer Cup at Turffontein and if things keep going to plan he will find himself in the final line-up.
Alghadeer – start to finish. (Gold Circle).
The lightly-raced colt by Dynasty made all the running in Friday night’s Listed Michaelmas Handicap over 1900m on Greyville’s Polytrack, well ridden from a wide draw by Anthony Delpech, and Mike was delighted, commenting: “We sent Alghadeer down to contest this race because we needed a Listed win to give him a chance of competing in the Summer Cup and it was a plan come together, he’s probably done enough to qualify now.”
Mike spoke highly of Alghadeer and said: “We’ve always rated him, he’s a horse with ability but he has been lightly raced, he may end up rated several point higher than his current rating so there’s more to come from him.
Owned by Sheikh Hamdan of Dubai, who has enjoyed a successful racing week following Almoonqith’s Gr3 win in Australia, Alghadeer was raised at Gary Player’s Stud farm. The golfing maestro will undoubtedly be holding thumbs, too, that this graduate can enter Johannesburg’s premier race scheduled for 28 November.
