FRENCH punters will be betting into TAB Win and Place pools for the first time at the Kenilworth race meeting on Wednesday and wagered R1.8 million on just four races.
And it’s likely that because of strikes in France, the PMU will commingle Win and Place bets on the first five races at Kenilworth this Saturday.
Next year the PMU intends to add six to eight races from seven Greyville Friday night meetings to the Win and Place commingling menu. The number of races on which PMU will offer Win and Place bets to its customers will depend on the starting times, which obviously have to dovetail into the PMU’s betting menu on French racing.
As is the case with all international commingling, punters in France take their bets on South African races with the PMU in the normal way with the bets being instantly transmitted into local TAB pools.
It’s estimated that French punters will add anything from 10,000 Euros (R140,000) to 40,000 Euros (R560,000) to each pool.
