THE Pick 6 pool at Africa’s greatest horseracing event at Greyville this Saturday, 5 July, starts with a carryover of R3 million. TAB estimates that the final total pool for the Greyville extravaganza will be a South African record of about R11 million.
Champion mare Beach Beauty is likely to carry the hopes of 95% of Pick 6 players in the final leg of the bet on Saturday. She’s quoted at 6-10 in the ante-post betting for the Gr1 Garden Province Stakes.
“It’s always difficult to predict, but the Vodacom Durban July is Africa’s biggest betting of the year and I estimate that the final total net pool will be from R10.8 to R11 million,” said Phumelela betting executive Vee Moodley. “We appeal to everybody to take their bets as early as possible,” he added.
To win the Pick 6 you must choose the winners of six consecutive races. Saturday’s pool starts on Race 4, the R500,000 Nokia Gold Vase over 3000m. The race is scheduled to begin at 1.35pm and the Pick 6 pool will close as the runners break from the starting gate.
TAB betting on Saturday’s meeting opened this Monday 30 June.
