FOUR-year-old Meadow Magic could be a decent sand sprinter in the making. He won a Graduation Plate for Mike’s yard at the Vaal on Tuesday by two lengths from Running Rivulet, after a second place in a MR94 on turf recently.
Apprentice Tshwaro Appie said that Meadow Magic was on the ‘lazy’ side, but that his strength helped him to win. “He will get better from here,” said Appie.
Assistant trainer Mathew de Kock said: “Meadow Magic had a long layoff before his last run and his owners have been patient. He’s a big, strong horse and the sand suited him.”
Mathew thanked Claudia Snyckers for looking after Meadow Magic on her spelling facility.
Meadow Magic is owned by Larry Nestadt, Greg Blank, Marshall Finlay, Philip Georgas and Selwyn Nathan.
