TAB customers can play a Swinger bet for R2 from Thursday, 1 September.
TAB has a R6 minimum bet policy, but is lowering the minimum for the Swinger to R2 on a three-month trial basis.
“Many of our customers believe that a R6 minimum is too high. So, on a trial basis, we have decided to drop the minimum bet on the Swinger, one of our most popular bets, to R2 from September. We will review the impact of the lower minimum at the end of November,” said Vee Moodley, Phumelela’s betting executive.
The Pick 6 carryover policy will also change from tomorrow. All Pick 6 carryovers from Thursday to the next Wednesday each week will continue to be accumulated into mega pools. But if the total carryover amount at the end of the seven-day cycle exceeds R750,000 then R500,000 will be carried forward to the Pick 6 pool at the principal South African meeting on the weekend and the rest to a selected race meeting on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
“We believe this new policy will make better use of Pick 6 carryovers and therefore enhance the enjoyment of our customers,” said Moodley.
Pick 6 carryovers at race meetings in Mauritius, Zimbabwe and Kenya will in future be carried forward to the next Pick 6 pool in the country in which it originated. Any Pick 6 carryover from the last Mauritian meeting of the season will go to a selected South African meeting.
