MIKE will saddle a number of feature-race contenders at the Rising Sun meeting at Clairwood postponed from Saturday to Monday.
He spoke about their chances:
Grade 2 Tibouchina Stakes, 1450m:
“Headstrong is very fit and well, as versatile and courageous as they come. She has a winning chance.”
Grade 1 Gold Challenge, 1600m:
Captain’s Wild is coming to his peak and will improve with this run. He’s a top horse, I haven’t seen a horse improve like he has in a long time. Kavanagh has been disappointing, his home gallops are as good as ever but we’re not going to predict anything this time. Both are drawn wide, a lot depends on how the race will be run. We hope to see them staying on at the finish.”
Grade 3 Cup Trial, 1800m:
Galileo’s Destiny has impressed us, he’s doing good work and should run a decent race. Perana comes back after gelding, we’ve seen some improvement in his attitude and his work is good. He’ll have to finish in the first three to have a chance of making the July field. We have a high opinion of Sky Marshall. He’s an unknown quantity but we’re expecting a fair run. Of the three, if I have to make a call, perhaps Galileo’s Destiny is preferred on the day, but it’s no clear-cut race.”
