THE VAR Syndicate announced their addition of a sprint programme to the annual racing calendar with a series of three races, aimed at revitalizing the speed category.

The 1st leg, the “Need for Speed Sprint” over 1000m was run at Kenilworth Racecourse on 22 January 2011 for a stake R150 000 and the 2nd leg,  the “Gold Rush Sprint”, was run at Turffontein on 5 March 2011 for a stake of R150 000.

The Durban Dash to be run at Clairwood Racecourse on Monday, 13 June 2011 which is the 3rd leg of the VAR Series, has the incorrect stake published.  The stake should read R150 000 paid up to 5 places, 1st R93 750, 2nd R30 000, 3rd  R15 0001 4th R7,500 and 5th R3 750.
