DUBAI World Cup contender Bold Silvano has bruised his foot and will not be running in the Al Maktoum Challenge (Round 3) over 2000m on Meydan’s Super Thursday this week.
There is no cause for concern, however, and Mike de Kock commented: “Bold Silvano will only be out for a few days and a short break will probably do him well, he’s been working hard. He will go into the World Cup without another preparation run, but he’s fit and well and will be right back on target soon.”
Bold Silvano (Andrew Watkins).
In Bold Silvano’s absence, Musir, originally aimed at the Burj Nahaar over 1600m, will be stepping into the 2000m contest along with Irish Flame, who switches from turf to the All Weather track.

Wauw. Good news that Bold Silvano will be okay. 2 big chocks when I saw the racecards. The second big surprise was that Irish Flame dont run in “City of Gold” ???? The big plan for him all the way was “City of Gold” and “Sheema Classic” !!! I can’t wait to hear from Mike De Kock about this change of plans.
Good luck to all !!!
I would say it’s a great choice that Mike de Kock has changed Irish Flame to race on the all weather…I guess if Bold Silvano runs so well on it, so will the runner-up of the Durban July and reigning SA’s Horse of the Year. Sounds like something special in the locker…let’s cross fingers.
