HERE are Mike’s comments about his runners carded for the race meeting at Turffontein on Friday, 12 November:

Race 5:  GIBRALTAR BLUE will find the trip too short but she is starting off her season and is very well. Although fresh and in need of the run her class will make her competitive. 

Race 6: MOTHER RUSSIA  is very well but short of peak fitness. Saying that we are expecting her to run well and we will decide on her feature race programme after the race.  ZIRCONEUM has come on from her last run and is looking and working well back home. She is also not at peak fitness and this run should bring her on for the Summer Cup. She will enjoy the trip and will be competitive.  SWEETIE PIE will need the run although she is very well at the moment. We will decide on her future plans after the race. PERANA is being thrown in the deep end here and is not well in at the weights. The race will give us a good indication of where we are going with him. His work at home has been excellent and he is very well.

Race 7: STORM CROSSING is not running on his best surface but is well handicapped in the race and we are expecting him to run a good race.

Race 8: CANDY SINGER is starting off her season and is short of peak fitness. She will improve with the run. BADGER LAKE will run in the 1600m as we feel this is an easier start to his campaign. His work has been good and this run will build him up to his preferred  distance.  IMMELMAN is fit and well and we are expecting him to be involved in the finish.
