HAVASHA (left on photo in a tussle with Pierre Jourdan), makes his comeback in Saturday’s Grade 3 Spring Challenge over 1450m at Turffonten’s inside track, the course and distance at which he got up to beat Pierre Jourdan in a nailbiter last January.
The chestnut by Kahal has on occasion flattered to deceive, but did confirm his class when finishing second to Pierre Jourdan in the Grade 2 Gauteng Guineas and second to Noordhoek Flyer in the Grade 2 KZN Guineas. He contracted billiary shortly after this race and missed his chance of racing in the Durban July.
Mike comments: “Havasha was very sick and he took some time to recover, but he’s been back in work for a while and he’s doing very well. Saturday’s race is the start of his preparation for the Summer Cup.”
Rudra, Rocks Off, Straight Forward and Alderrry will also be back in action on Saturday, all being stepped out in their first pipe-openers for forthcoming Hughveld Summer features.
