Two command respect

IMPRESSIVE wins at the weekend for Aussie-breds Yakeen and Mujallad – both commanding respect in the fashion they galloped home at Turffontein.

Yakeen won his second race from three starts – romping home by just under five lengths over 1600m for Anthony Delpech and Mathew de Kock commented: “It should have been three from three, he was unlucky in his last start. He looks promising and on the up, he’s ready for a feature. We were thinking of the Tony Ruffell, but the 1400m may be too short so we’ll be looking for something else.”

Yakeen, by Teofilo, races for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.

Mujallad (Delpech), peak run winner.

Mujallad (Delpech), peak run winner.

Sheikh Haamdan’s Mujallad was fancied to run closer to his stablemate Alfolk in a Gr3 feature last time; he won a good race over 1160m defeating a competitive field.

“Mujallad just needed his run last time and this time he was at his peak. He’s another who is ready to step up a notch, we’ll look for a suitable feature.
