Excellence from Wilgerbosdrift

WILGERBOSDRIFT, instrumental in breeding 2019 G1 winning half-brothers Hawwaam and Rainbow Bridge, have a truly exceptional draft on offer at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale that starts on Wednesday.

Wilgerbosdrift, whose numerous high class National Sale graduates included Horse Of The Year and outstanding sire Dynasty, will be offering yearlings by Silvano, Var, Oratorio, Flower Alley, Ideal World and the short lived
champion Soft Falling Rain.

Multiple champion sire Silvano has a trio of colts on offer in the Wilgerbosdrift including a colt (Lot 9) out of the Oasis Dream sired millionaire Welwitschia, a full-brother (Lot 184) to the G1 Majorca Stakes winner Nightingale, and a colt (Lot 234) who is not only bred on the same cross as the brilliant Hawwaam but also hails from the immediate family of Kentucky Derby winning sire Super Saver.

Former Equus Champion and multiple G1 winner Rat Burana is represented by a Var filly (Lot 186) named Social Butterfly, while another G1 winner represented in this high class draft is Cape Fillies Guineas winner Emerald Beauty. Already dam of five winners, the brilliant Emerald Beauty has an Oratorio filly (Lot 344) by the name of Emerald Floe on the National Sale.

Ideal World, whose progeny include the likes of Smart Call, Rainbow Bridge and Samurai Warrior, is represented by Top Drawer (Lot 435), a filly whose twice winning dam is a half-sister to G2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes winner
Trophy Wife. 

One of the most striking aspects of Wilgerbosdrift’s National Sale draft is the quality of mare represented. High class producer Baby It’s You, whose progeny include Oaks winner Sweetie Pie, has a Soft Falling Rain filly (Lot
33) on the sale, as does G3 Starling Stakes winner Sarasota (Lot 515).

Sweetie Pie herself, a Fort Wood half-sister to Queen Palm Handicap winner Treaj Pots, has a Soft Falling Rain colt (Lot 227) by the name of Salted Caramel, while G1 Garden Province Stakes winner Velvet Green, whose progeny
include former National Sale topper Wonder Lawn, has a Flower Alley filly (Lot 242) by the name of Wild Sage on sale.

Montjeu’s G2 Gold Bowl winner Gorongosa has a Soft Falling Rain colt (Lot 96) on offer while former SA Oaks winner Ilha Bela (Lot 104),a Fort Wood daughter of multiple G1 winning champion Ilha Da Vitoria, has a Flower Alley colt by the name of Reunion (Lot 104) on the National Sale.

Other eye catching lots in the Wilgerbosdrift draft include a Flower Alley half-brother (Lot 59) to high class performers Wagner and Nassa, a Soft Falling Rain colt (Lot 101) out of a G2 winning daughter of Redoute’s
