Persian Rug follows up

SHE’s still inexperienced, but two-year-old filly Persian Rug likes to win.

She made it two-from two over 1400m when winning a Juvenile Plate at Scottsville on Wednesday, just a month after her debut win at Greyville.

Munching at the bit: Persian Rug.

S’Manga Khumalo took over from Anton Marcus for this victory and Persian Rug, despite her greenness, responded to his urgings and won going away for the new (and thanks to their filly) unbeaten partnership of Nathan Kotzen and Steven Jell.

“I hope Persian Rug never stops winning. When Mike comes to Durban soon he’ll make an assessment, I’m hoping we can go for a feature and he may want to race her on July day,” said Kotzen.

Jell is at Newmarket, UK, with Jessica Slack who bred Persian Rug at Mauritzfontein Stud. She’s a bay daughter of Ideal World from a mare by Fort Wood, huge and scopy and set for further progress. Keep an eye out for her!
